US Military blocking mainstream E-Mail providers?

October 24, 2005 by

Security concerns aside, blocking mainstream email services is extreme. If you have a loved one stationed overseas in the Navy or with the Marines, you can forget about exchanging email with them if they use any of the commercial services such as Hotmail, Yahoo, AOL or Gmail. According to a report in Stars & Stripes, the Navy and Marine Corps have blocked all access to such services from overseas government computers, including those at libraries.

You heard me right. I believe they are doing this so that news wont be leaked out, I mean what other reasons do they have? Troops use email to keep in touch with familiy to let them know that their okay. You take this away and what will happen to the families? Suddenly they stop recieving emails from thier loved ones? Ill keep y’sall posted on this one. . .

Apple gets sued…over Nano?

October 21, 2005 by

A lawsuit, filed Wendnesday, reports that Apple violated state consumer protection statutes. It is rumored that Apple even knew about design flaws in the 6-week old iPod Nano.

It is reported that the Nanos scratch way to easy when used on a normal basis, resulting in the screen being to hard to see.

Apple stats that the Nano is amde of the same polycarbonate material that is used in previous iPods. The lawsuit states that the Nano has a thinner coating of resin than the other ipod models.

“The amount and durability of the resin applied as a protective coating
during the Nano manufacturing process is clearly defective in that it
is not sufficient to adequately protect the face of the Nano from
extreme scratching and ultimately irreparable damage,” the lawsuit states.

My opinion is this, I do agree that some people have problems with the ipod Nano, and that they see a way to fix the problem is to sue Apple, but if we sued every company that made a defective product (which for most people, it isn’t) we wouldnt be anywhere in the world! Ive bought nemerous things that were defective such as a $150 wireless keyboard and muse set that gradually stopped working afer a while. I then started seeing other people with the same problem, Did we sue? NO! We just got along with our lives! I do understand that people are spending $200 on the Nanos, but we also spent $200 on Windows XP, but didn’t sue over the security errors! And those are even worse than a scratched MP3 player!

If anyone has any pictures of scratched Nano’s, please e-mail them to me at firstcorpe@gmail.com. Thanks!

First Post (2nd Techanicailly)

October 21, 2005 by

Alright, this is my blog, Technologically Witless (Yes I know its a mouthful!). A blog is like an electronic journal that is shared with the world. Blogging has grown more important over the years as more and more people are learning their way around computers.

The purpose of this blog is to (hopefully), with the help of readears, to be a help spot for the not-so-computer-literate to learn new things. I can not tell you how many times I have had to help adults with computers. I was on a computer around 5 years of age. Ever since then, I have always loved them.

Most people think that computers are for research and the like, and are not ment to be fun. With my help, and a little help from some software, I hope that you can come to enjoy computers as much as me!
